«Dos bombas puestas en una carretera explotaron el jueves, matando a 7 personas horas después de que el Presidente anunciara que se presentaría a un tercer mandato, según señaló la agencia de noticias estatal el viernes.

Las bombas interrumpieron un período de relativa calma en Argelia donde las fuerzas seculares del Gobierno han estado combatiendo un grupo resurgente militante llamado Al-Qaeda en el Norte de África o AQMI.

La primera explotó en Foum El-Metlag, cerca de Tebessa en la frontera este de Argelia con Túnez, según dijo la Agencia Oficial APS el viernes, según oficiales de seguridad. Cuatro miembros de la familia, incluyendo dos mujeres y un bebé, murieron por la explosión, que tuvo lugar el jueves.

La segunda explotó cuando los servicios rescate llegaron al lugar de la explosión, matando a dos policías y a un bombero».

Difícil situación. Argelia ha ofrecido amnistías y ha mandado al ejército. Pero mientras que no se luche ideológicamente contra la amenaza islamista… no habrá solución.

¿La peste ha matado a varios terroristas de Al-Qaeda en Argelia?

«Al menos 40 fanáticos de Al-Qaeda han muerto de forma horrible después de resultar afectados por la enfermedad que devastó Europa en la Edad Media.

La peste ha afectado a los insurgentes en un campo de entrenamiento en Argelia, Norte de África. Se descubrió cuando las fuerzas de seguridad encontraron un cuerpo en un lado de una carretera.

Muchos pensarán que esto es obra de EEUU, pero personalmente creo que estos estaban usando compuestos de estas enfermedades y que se contagiaron. No es nada fácil introducirse en estos grupos y menos entre los que se encuentran en pleno desierto. Sin embargo, para ellos no es muy difícil conseguir armas biológicas: cualquier laboratorio ruso o de países en vías de desarrollo tiene las cepas. Si se han introducido en los hospitales de enfermos mentales para ver la historia del paciente y saber quiénes pueden ser más proclives a hacerse terroristas suicidas, esto no es muy difícil.

Ahora bien, con ser eso terrible, me preocupa más otra cosa. Según esta noticia, están preocupados porque pueda haberse contagiado a otras células terroristas. Si tenemos en cuenta que cualquier célula terrorista vive como durmiente o activa en la sociedad de forma normal (va a la compra, reserva habitaciones de hotel, come en restaurantes, etc.) ¿podemos estar seguros de que no van a contagiarlo a otras personas?

Las autoridades en la primera semana de enero interceptaron una comunicación urgente entre los líderes de Al-Qaeda en la Tierra del Magreb (AQIM) y el liderazgo de Al-Qaeda en la región tribal de Paquistán en la frontera con Afganistán. La comunicación sugirió que un área había sido sellada para prevenir la fuga de una substancia biológica o química [cuyos recipientes] se había roto, según el oficial.

Al-Qaeda: last news

Al Qaeda anima a los marroquíes a luchar contra los españoles de Ceuta y Melilla. Leed el link porque es muy interesante.

Digamos que esto no me sorprende nada. Ya ha amenazado varias veces con esta cuestión (como ya blogueé aquí, entre otras y precisamente, teneindo en cuenta la nueva franquicia de Al-Qaeda en el Magreb) y encima ahora el Plan de Reestructuración del Ejército determina que en Melilla vayan a reducirse efectivos, lo que sin embargo ha sido negado por la Ministra Chacón en una carta a Imbroda. Y además ocurre después de que se publicase que Zapatero si ganaba las elecciones iba a negociar la co-soberanía de Ceuta y Melilla.

Por cierto, que en esta «histórica reivindicación» (¿?) también apoya a Marruecos la Liga Árabe… y nosotros con estos pelos… digo, políticos…

Relacionado con Al-Qaeda hay que decir que Al-Zawahiri ha negado que el 11-S fuera una conspiración de Israel o de EEUU y ha acusado a Irán de propagar esa mentira:

El asistente más importante de Bin Laden en una cinta grabada acusó al chií Irán de intentar desacreditar a la red suní de Al-Qaeda, extendiendo la teoría conspirativa de que Israel estaba detrás de los ataques de Al-Qaeda.

Los comentarios reflejan que el líder nº 2 de Al-Qaeda está incrementando su críticas a Irán. Al-Zawahiri ha acusado a Irán de intentar extender su poder en el Medio Oriente, especialmente en Irak y a través de sus aliados de Hizbulá en Líbano.

¿La causa? Al-Qaeda es sunita e Irán es chií. Y puede tener relación con esta otra noticia: los palestinos se están pasando al chiísmo porque su financiación es iraní (qué convencimiento, ¿ehh? Poderoso caballero es Don Dinero, que escribió Quevedo):

las fuentes dicen que un importante número de operativos estaban adoptando la tradición chií, a pesar de que sólo unos cuantos han realizado una conversión formal.

«Es una decisión en relación con la carrera,» una fuente palestina dijo. «Si eres chií, Irán y Hizbulá confían más en tí y puedes incluso obtener más dinero.»

La Franja Oeste y Franja de Gaza son mayoritariamente musulmanas sunitas- Hasta el 2007, no se oía hablar de los chiíes en la Franja Oeste.

Pero durante el año pasado, las instituciones chiíes han comenzado a operar en las áreas palestinas. Las fuentes indican que los sunitas han demostrado poco interés.

Ahora bien, los insurgentes financiados por Irán, han demostrado un gran interés en el chiísmo. La familia del comandante de la Jihad Islámica, Mohammed Shehadeh, muerto a mitad de marzo en una operación israelí, se ha convertido de la tradición sunita a la chiíta en la ciudad de Belén (ayyyy, Señor, nunca mejor dicho) de la Franja Oeste.

(…) Las fuentes indican que los chiíes palestinos están también vinculados a Hizbulá. Dicen también que Hizbulá ha animado a los jóvenes palestinos, particularmente los efectivos de la insurgencia, a estudiar teología chií en Irán y Líbano.

Ahora bien, la pregunta que todo esto me suscita es: ¿estamos asistiendo a las primeras fases de una guerra más o menos larvada (otra más) entre las facciones chií y sunita del Islam por el control sobre Palestina? Con independencia de que eso puede (no digo que vaya) disminuir los ataques a Israel (puede ser que también intenten competir a ver quién le ataca más), si Irán consigue la conversión en esos lares de los palestinos, el problema puede extenderse. Hay que tener en cuenta que ya Arabia Saudí protestó por el Líbano y Hizbulá, en relación a Siria (también chií y aliada de Irán) hace unos meses:

Los lazos entre Siria y los saudíes son difíciles desde hace algún tiempo, sintiendo el reino que su papel en la búsqueda de una reconciliación entre las facciones libanesas y palestinas ha sido socavado desde Damasco.

Es lógico que Arabia Saudí y Al-Qaeda tengan la misma preocupación: tanto uno como otro son suníes y ambos tienen por objeto el Califato Global. Otra cosa es que los medios sean diferentes: los wahabíes son por métodos pacíficos, mediante la predicación y la conversión del Islam más radical, así como mediante la petición de privilegios para los musulmanes, a través de las mezquitas en Occidente, mientras que Al-Qaeda se vale del terror para conseguir esos mismos objetivos.

PS: Un resumen de este post es lo primero que escribo para Desde El Exilio. La verdad: cuando me dijo Luis que si quería postear para su blog, me dio mucha vergüenza (ahora risa general). (PD).- The No. 2 of the terrorist net, Al Qaeda, Ayman Al-Zawahiri has encouraged the Moroccans to «fight against Satan’s allies», in referrence to «the Spanish occupation» of Ceuta and Melilla.

Zawahiri statements were recorded and published in an Islamist web page, in the second phase of its answers sent through Internet to the Al-Qaeda leader from across the world.

A Moroccan, identified as Abu al Walid, asked Al Zawahiri about the role of the Moroccans considering the «Spanish occupation of one part of the remote countries of the Maghreb», in referrence to Ceuta and Melilla.

Zawahiri answered with quotes from the Quran such as the question «Why don’t you fight in the way of Allah?» and added «those who have faith, will fight in the way of Allah, fight against the Satan’s allies!».

The record lasts more than two hours, in which Zawahiri read each question and identified their author. It contains numerous questions and petitions of advice sent by Moroccans and Alegrians.

Jihad in the Maghreb

Zawahiri underlined the importance of «Jihad» (holy war) in the Maghreb countries.

«The jihad of our brothers in the countries of Maghreb is a step forward the Muslim Caliphate», Zawahiri stated.

In an answer to a question about the best way to fight agains the «Crusaders and the Apostates» in Algeria, Zawahiri advised the author of the question «to continue the Jihad of the Al-Qaeda’s organization in the Maghreb countries, which are one of the best in acheiving the expulsion of apostates and in fighting the crusaders».

A question sent by a Moroccan woman asks for advice about the woman’s role in the fight and more precisely, if the woman should abandon her sons to fight Jihad in the Maghreb countries.

«Well, at first we must say, that the Jihad should include everyone, but the Jihadists understand your needs. I’m not telling you to abandon your sons, but I’m telling you to be prepared for any service which the Jihadists can need», ansered Zawahiri.

But, answering if a man can leave the Jihad out of love or to study, Zawahiri ansewered that the holy war has always the priority.

Last december, Al Qaeda invited the MSM to interview its «number 2» in internet, according to a statement by As Sahab, the company which acts as a producer using the net to spread its audiovisual messages.

Everyone who wanted to, had the opportunity to send its questions from Dec 16th to Jan 16th through several Islamist web pages: Al Ekhlas, Al Hasba, Al Baraq and Al Firdos.

Al-Qaeda, and specifically Al-Zawahiri has already menaced with this several times before this one (as I blogged here, among others and precisely, considering the new Al-Qaeda franchise in the Maghreb). The menace comes in a moment when the «Army Reestructuring Plan» includes the reduction of effectives in Melilla, something which has been denied by the Minister Chacón in a letter to the President of Autonomous City, Imbroda. And it also takes place after it was published that Zapatero, if he won the elections, was going to negotiate the co-sovereignty of Ceuta and Melila.

By the way, in this «historical reivindication» (something entirely stupid because Ceuta and Melilla were conquered in XVIth century, when Spanish kings still wanted to conquer the North of Africa to Islamic conquerors, a plan which was stopped by the Protestand reform, which made the Emperor Charles V of Germany and I of Spain drive all his Armies to Germany and abandon the project) this ambition by Morocco is also supported by the Arab League… and meanwhile we are with this kind of irrational policy…

Anyway, Al-Zawahiri has also denied that Sept 11 bombings were made by Israel and has blamed Iran for these theories:

Osama bin Laden‘s chief deputy in an audiotape Tuesday accused Shiite Iran of trying to discredit the Sunni al-Qaida terror network by spreading the conspiracy theory that Israel was behind the Sept. 11 attacks.

The comments reflected al-Qaida’s No. 2 leader Ayman al-Zawahri‘s increasing criticism of Iran. Al-Zawahri has accused Iran in recent messages of seeking to extend its power in the Middle East, particularly in Iraq and through its Hezbollah allies in Lebanon.

The cause of this increased criticism of Iran can be in the difference of theological adscription of both groups: while Al Qaeda is Sunni Muslim, Iran and Hezbollah are Shia Muslims. And this piece of news can be the real base of it:

The sources said scores of operatives were adopting Shi’ite tradition, although only a handful underwent a formal conversion.

«It’s a career decision,» a Palestinian source said. «When you’re Shi’ite, you become more trusted by Iran and Hizbullah and you might even get more money.»

The West Bank and the Gaza Strip is overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim. Until 2007, Shi’ites were unheard of in the West Bank.

But over the last year, Shi’ite institutions have begun to operate in the Palestinian areas. The sources said they have drawn slight interest from Sunnis.

Insurgents financed by Iran, however, have demonstrated the greatest interest in Shi’ism. The family of Jihad commander Mohammed Shehadeh, slain in mid-March in an Israeli operation, converted from Sunni to Shia in the West Bank city of Bethlehem.

(…) The sources said the Palestinian Shi’ites were also linked to Hizbullah. They said Hizbullah has encouraged young Palestinians, particularly insurgency operatives, to study Shi’ite theology in Iran and Lebanon.

We have to take into account that Saudi Arabia had complained several months ago about Syrian role in Lebanon, accusing Syria of undermining its role to bring peace between Lebanese and Palestinian factions.

Could another war between Shia and Sunni be in the making for the control over Palestine and Lebanon? We can see though, the similarities between Saudis and Al-Qaedans: in the end, their goal (the achievement of the Global Caliphate) is common. The only difference is in their means to achieve it.

Los atentados de Argelia: ¿para qué sirven las amnistías de Jihadistas?

Y de terroristas en general:

Two convicted terrorists who had been freed in an amnesty carried out the suicide bombings at U.N. and government buildings that killed 37 people, an Algerian security official has said.

Rescuers in the shaken city Thursday were still extracting the living and the dead from the crumpled remains of U.N. offices in Algiers that were bombed by al-Qaeda’s self-styled North African affiliate.

Victims caught in Tuesday’s twin truck bombings, which happened 10 minutes apart, included U.N. staff from around the world, police officers and law students.

One of the bombers was a 64-year-old man in the advanced stages of cancer, while the other was a 32-year-old from a poor suburb that has produced many Islamic militants, the security official said Thursday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The government has offered amnesties to try to end a 15-year Islamic insurgency, resulting in thousands of militants turning themselves in, but sparking fierce criticism from the families of victims.

unlike in the past decade, today’s operations are strategically coordinated with al Qaeda central, not in terms of operations but policies and international decision making. However I believe that this particular attack is a response to the recent visit by French President Nicholas Sarkozy to Algeria. It is directed against the number of agreements signed by the Government of Abdelaziz Bouteflika with the Paris presidential delegation. The Jihadist incitement against the Algerian authorities, including mostly via the al jazeera shows, usually indicates the trends to come. Algiers was accused by the Salafi forces as «betraying the Muslim world and associating with French kuffar.» The strikes came in line with this incitement.

Al Qaeda (la central) a través de Zawahiri, criticó también a Argelia por su participación en Annapolis, acusándole de traicionar a los palestinos.

Por cierto, que esto es un cambio en la estrategia de Al-Qaeda en el Magreb que antes usaba menores y ahora empieza a usar viejos.

Sin duda la mejor pregunta es la de CSM: Can Al-Qaeda spread across North Africa? Y digo la mejor, porque precisamente a esa expansión responde el nuevo nombre del Grupo Salafista para la Predicación y el Combate (GSPC), reconvertido ahora en Al Qaeda para el Magreb islámico. Claro, que una cosa son los objetivos y otra la realidad:

Al final, la amnistía sirve para que desestabilizar al mismo Gobierno que les dio la amnistía, como consecuencia de su política internacional… Eso sí, El País titula «Argelia no está en riesgo de guerra civil pese a los atentados«. En riesgo de guerra civil no, pero de desestabilización del Gobierno sí. Expansion.com también insiste en el vínculo entre la reconciliación con Francia y el atentado de Argelia.

Sarkozy, Argelia y la Unión Euro-Mediterránea

Mr. Sarkozy arrived Monday in an effort to cool decades of tense relations and ink new business contracts with France’s ex-colony, which gained independence in 1962, as well as pitch his idea for a Mediterranean Union, a regional community that would unite the 21 countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.

The union, an initiative that Sarkozy proposed soon after becoming president, would focus on security, immigration, and environmental and cultural linkages among all countries, from Morocco to Malta to Israel, and help coordinate trade between this region and Europe. But his message in the region is reaching many skeptical ears, both those wary of a former colonial master as well as those concerned such a formal compact would simply open the door to European imports and guarantee hydrocarbon-hungry Europe a reliable supply of energy.

On Tuesday, Sarkozy did his part to quell much of the rancor between Algeria and France when he called France’s colonial system «profoundly unjust.» Addressing the colonial era and the brutal eight-year war of independence, he went partway toward satisfying the longtime demand of Algiers, and of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, for Paris to apologize for its actions as the colonial ruler.

But, he said, «I came to Algeria to build … an exceptional partnership between our people, and that happens by way of contracts…. The past exists. The future is to be built.»

[…] But prominent Algerian journalist Ihsan el Kadi says average Algerians don’t give the still ill-defined union proposal much thought. But, Mr. Kadi says, it has the full attention of businessmen in the region, hungry for direct investment and willing to offer incentives to spur more trade across the Mediterranean, or the White Sea, as it’s called in Arabic.

Como queda claro, lo que interesa a Sarko son las relaciones comerciales y ha metido la pata hasta el fondo al decir que «el sistema colonial francés fue profundamente injusto«. No porque no lo fuera (que lo fue), si no porque lo ha hecho sólo para obligar a Argelia a no ser tan reticente ante la Unión Euro-Mediterránea. Como bien dice el artículo, Argelia, un país rico de gente pobre, va a vender muy cara su participación en esta empresa por la necesidad europea de gas, mientras que otros países más pobres como Túnez y (chan cha channnnnnnnnnnnnnn) Marruecos, están encantados con la posibilidad:

Algeria will be one of the toughest negotiators in a union like what Sarkozy envisions because of its abundant natural gas that is needed in Europe. Neighbors like Tunisia and Morocco share a French colonial history but as protectorates. Being much poorer countries, they appear to welcome the idea of greater ties to the wealthy neighbors to the north.

«Algeria doesn’t want to be dependent. The 132 years of colonialism has really ingrained this in people here,» says Mr. Parks. That desire, he says, makes Algeria leery of agreements like the one proposed by Sarkozy.

Countries like Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt, which are resource-starved and need trade ties to survive, are likely to be responsive to diplomatic overtures such as the union idea, analysts say.

Además de que esta Unión EuroMediterránea (que, por cierto, ha venido a sustituir entre los líderes internacionales a la Alianza de las Civilizaciones de la mirada positiva) sería un verdadero desastre para Europa: no sólo por los miles o millones de inmigrantes que pasarían a Europa complicando aún más el panorama, si no porque sobre todo Argelia es uno de los países con más problemas de terrorismo islámico de todo el Magreb (recordemos que el antiguo Grupo Islámico para la Predicación y el Combate ha pasado a ser Al-Qaeda en el Norte de África). Y a la vez indigna a sus votantes naturales (y a los repatriados de Argelia).

NOTAS:

Resulta curioso que Francia pida perdón (aunque sea a medias) por la colonización y que Turquía siga sin pedir perdón por el genocidio armenio (que eso sí lo fue…).

So Sarko has gone to visit Algeria and has asked (not entirely) for forgiveness about French colonial rule in the area. The reason for that statement is mainly that he wants to build an Euro-Mediterranean Union. Of all the North African countries the most significantly against this project is Algeria precisely as they do not want to be dependent again and they are rich because of the gas they export to Europe.

But other countries, such as Morocco (hmm, I don’t like at all the prospect), Tunisia, Egypt or Lybia, are apparently very happy with the prospect.

But Sarkozy has not played a good trick here: not only he has condemned French colonial rule, disgusting his voters and the French-Algerian expatriates in France, but he has done it for mere commercial reasons and to build a Union which would be -in case it is done- highly damaging for European countries, under a lot of pressure yet caused by immigration, specially from Islamic North African countries. The fact that this immigration is mainly uncontrolled and illegal, makes every terrorist, drug/women/weapons’ trafficker and smuggling easier, making crime figures even bigger and increasing the sensation of unsecurity, in societies already shaken by those same factors.

Regarding Spain, this would be disastrous: not only March 11th bombings were mainly done (and probably planned) by Moroccan subjects, but Moroccan king, the disgusting Mohammed VIth, reclaims already Melilla, Ceuta and the Canary Islands. El fundador de la banda terrorista argelina Grupo Salafista para la Predicación y el Combate (GSPC), Hasan Habtab, ha sido detenido por la policía, según informa el diario árabe ‘Al Hayat’.El diario, el más prestigioso del mundo árabe, cita a “fuentes informadas” en su nota fechada en Londres, que aseguraron que Hatab, uno de los terroristas más buscados de Argelia, fue arrestado en el barrio de Husein de Argel el pasado día 22, cuando se encontraba celebrando la ruptura del ayuno en Ramadán.

La fuente indicó que Hatab se encontraba en compañía de algunos ex compañeros del GSPC que han abandonado las armas.

El GSPC aglutinó a los terroristas en activo procedentes del Ejército Islámico de Salvación y del Grupo Islámico Armado, convirtiéndose en el grupo terrorista más temido por el Estado argelino.

Recientemente anunció su fusión con Al Qaeda y la formación de una rama magrebí de esta última organización llamada Al Qaeda en el Magreb Islámico, que opera en el norte de África y algunos países subsharianos.

Esto son buenas noticias, incluso después de señalar la imbecilidad de los diplomáticos USA en sus negociaciones con Argelia.
